How do I choose colors? Can someone help with that?

Absolutely. Having painted over 1,000 homes, we’ve seen just about every design style, color combination, and trend.

Choosing colors can feel overwhelming at first, but it becomes much easier when you follow a few simple steps. We offer in-house color guidance, and we also work with local designers who can assist if you’d like a more in-depth design consultation.

Color plays a powerful role in how your home looks and feels, so it’s worth taking the time to get it right.

There are also helpful digital tools available from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, along with AI tools that can digitally render your home in different color combinations before making a final decision.

Do you handle carpentry work, and when does that happen?

Yes, we do. Most minor carpentry repairs are completed during the prep phase of the project, before any painting begins. Proper preparation is critical to a long-lasting paint job, and that often includes addressing areas of wood rot, damaged trim, or other exterior issues.

We typically approach carpentry in two ways:

• Time & Materials: Used when conditions are unknown until the project begins
• Fixed Bid: Used when the scope of repairs can be clearly defined ahead of time

This approach ensures repairs are handled properly without delaying the overall painting process.

How do I know when my house needs to be repainted?

A good starting point is determining when the home was last painted. In the Pacific Northwest climate, most homes should be repainted approximately every 10–12 years.

However, not all homes age the same. Several factors influence the lifespan of a paint job, including:

• Sun exposure
• Quality of the paint previously used
• Quality of surface preparation
• Type of siding material

This is why it’s important to hire a painter who understands modern paint systems and proper preparation methods. A lower bid may seem appealing at first, but if the paint job only lasts five years instead of ten, it quickly becomes the more expensive option.

Do you charge for estimates, and how long do they take?

No — estimates are completely free.

Most estimates take 30–45 minutes, depending on the size of the home and the complexity of the project. When possible, we like to walk the property with you so we can review the scope together, discuss expectations, and answer any questions.

You can typically expect to receive a detailed written quote within 24 hours after the visit.

How long will my painting project take?

Project timelines can vary depending on the size of the home, the scope of work, and the level of preparation or repairs required.

Some smaller projects may take just a few days, while larger homes or more detailed projects can take several weeks and sometimes up to 30 days to complete. Exterior projects can also be affected by weather conditions, which occasionally requires schedule adjustments.

Our goal is never to rush a project just to move on to the next one. Taking the proper time for prep work, repairs, and correct paint application is what ensures a long-lasting result.

Before your project begins, we will review the expected timeline and schedule with you so you know exactly what to expect throughout the process.

How should I prepare my home before painting starts?

For exterior projects, we typically ask homeowners to:

• Move vehicles away from the house
• Remove fragile décor from walls or patios
• Trim back vegetation touching the home

For interior projects:

• Remove wall décor and small personal items
• Clear surfaces and shelves

Larger furniture can usually remain in place and will be covered and protected by our team.

Before the project begins, we’ll provide a simple pre-project checklist to help make the process smooth and easy.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Yes. We stand behind our work and offer a workmanship warranty on our painting projects.

More importantly, we believe standing behind our work should be more than just words. Every year, we reach back out to our clients in the following year to check in on the project and make sure everything is still performing as expected.

That yearly follow-up is our way of ensuring our work continues to hold up and that our customers know we’re still here if anything needs attention. For us, standing behind our work is something we actively practice, not just something we say.

Do I need to be home while the work is being completed?

Not necessarily. Many of our clients are at work or away during the day while we complete the project.

As long as we have access to the necessary areas of the home, our team can complete the work while keeping you updated on the progress of the project.

When is the best time of year to paint in the Pacific Northwest?

Exterior painting projects are typically completed from spring through fall, when temperatures and moisture levels allow paint to properly cure.

Because the Pacific Northwest has a relatively short window of consistent dry weather during the summer, it’s important to plan ahead. Many homeowners schedule their estimates months in advance, and most painting companies — including ours — often have their summer schedules filled before the season even begins.

Interior painting can be completed year-round, and depending on weather conditions, certain exterior projects may also be completed outside of peak season.
